• Industrial Design protection in Malaysia is governed by the Industrial Designs Act 1996 and Industrial Designs Regulations 1999 for the features of an industrial design consisting of 3 dimensional or 2 dimensional or combination of both.

 

 

• A registered industrial design is given an initial protection period of 5 years from the date of filing. This protection is extendable for a further 4 consecutive terms of 5 years each.

 

 

• The maximum protection period is 25 years.

 

 

    Helpful Hint:  You cannot re-enter the register once your Industrial Design have already    

    published as lapsed.  Don’t let your Industrial Design expires
